The newly elected President of the Maritime Reporters’ Association of Nigeria (MARAN), Mr. Anya Njoku said that MARAN is set to restore its glory under his administration.
Njoku who was elected Friday in Lagos to run the affairs of the association for the next three years however appealed to all members to lend their support to the new executive to take the association to greater heights.
The president advised members to get ready for myriad of events and programmes that would further improve them in the areas of deeper knowledge of the maritime industry, capacity development and socio-economic welfare even as he also solicited the support of the maritime industry stakeholders assuring them of MARAN’s continuing support and robust reportage of their activities.
In a keenly contested election which held at the MARAN International Maritime Press Centre in Apapa, Njoku, Co-publisher of Snipper Magazine with a total of 18 votes defeated Mr. Godfrey Bevirre of Vanguard Newspapers and Mr. Francis Ezem of National Mirror Newspaper who polled 9 and 5 votes respectively to emerge the winner.
Other members of the new executive includes; Bayo Bernard of the Source Magazine as Vice President, Dapo Olawuni Assistant Editor Shipping Position Daily as Secretary General, Samson Echenim of the Vanguard Newspapers as Assistant Secretary.
Others include; Esther Hassan of PM News as Treasurer and Oluyinka Onigbinde of Newsdirect Newspaper as Public Relations Officer.
