The immediate past Chairman of National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) Tincan Island chapter, High Chief Azubuike Ekweozor has restated his commitment to relentlessly continue to re-brand the chapter if re-elected come March 19th, 2018.
He also promised that he will subsidize the payment of Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN) for members.
Ekweozor while speaking to journalists during his campaign rally recently in Lagos equally took time to enumerate some of his achievements alongside his executives during the last three years in office.
Ekweozor who doubles as the Managing Director of Ajiyi Farms said, “when I resumed office as Tin Can Island Port NAGAFF Chairman, there was no structure on ground, the chapter secretariat was nothing to write home about. Some people have used the association name to defraud a lot of importers. Police kept coming to arrest and re-arrest members.
“l had a meeting with my executives, resolved it and I paid off all the accumulated bills which I knew nothing about. This money was running into millions of Naira, for the sake of peace and unity and above all to redeem the image of NAGAFF Tin Can”.
He noted that, “before now, most of the government agencies in the ports have a negative impression about NAGAFF members practicing at Tin Can due to various bad experiences they have had with them”, adding that himself and his executives went into action by setting up a Help Desk which was used to address the issue and since then till when he left office, no case of fraud or negative report from any of the government agencies.
Ekweozor who was recently congratulated by an International media for re-branding NAGAFF Tin Can equally assured NAGAFF members that if given the opportunity and was re-elected; he would relocate the chapter secretariat to a befitting location in addition to what he has done.
“If re-elected, capacity building will be my first priority, l will send more of our members to study professional courses related to clearing and members will be mobilize to attend the necessary conferences in the industry”, he said.
