***Introduction***
Capt. (Barr.) Casmir Chukwunonso Nwafor (Rtd) was born in Enugu to the family of Late Mr. Joseph Nwafor of Oko, Orumba North LGA and Mrs. Patricia Nwafor (Nee Okafor Utiosu) of Abagana, Njikoka LGA, both of Anambra State. He is married to Mrs. Precious Oge Nwafor (Nee Ndigwe) of Osikwu Village, Awgbu Orumba North LGA. The marriage is blessed with 4 boys.
He started his primary education at St. Peter’s Anglican Primary, now Central School School, Abagana. He proceeded to WTC Primary School, Enugu after the death of his grandmother. As a child of civil servants (subject to transfers), he finished at Ezinato National Primary School, Awka in 1984. He was the School’s Deputy Head Boy.
He proceeded to St Patrick’s Secondary School, Emene, Enugu. There he was given a double Prefect position (Infirmarian and Assistant Chapel Prefect) in his JSS 3 in 1987. In his thirst for Seminary education, in 1988, he left St. Patrick’s to Holy Ghost Juniorate Seminary, Ihiala where he graduated in 1990. He was the School’s President, Creative and Dramatic Society.
Barr. Nwafor gained admission into the Faculty of Law, Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka in 1991. He graduated in 1997, regrets to 1 year loss to ASUU strikes under Abacha regime. Casmir Nwafor is the initiator of today’s Democratic Students Unionism in UNIZIK. For that he had a running battle with the school authority leading to a protracted court case reported in Nigeria today as NNAMDI AZIKIWE UNIVERSITY And Anor Vs CASMIR NWAFOR. The school withdrew their further appeal to Supreme Court after Casmir’s Call to Bar in 1999. Ironically, he remains the only student of the institution to be sent off in an organized and sponsored ceremony from the school by the School management. Casmir was the Speaker of Law Faculty, UNIZIK and a NANS Senator for the school between 1992 and 1997. He holds the traditional title of OfONDINZE UNIZIK. In 2003, in an award ceremony in Awka, he was honoured alongside his Godfather, IKEMBA Nnewi, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu. He was conferred with the award of DEFENDER OF NIGERIA STUDENTS by NANS.
Nwachinemelu practiced law for 7 years before joining the Army in 2007. He was a National Assistant Secretary, Oko People’s Union (OPU) as well as her National Legal Adviser between 2003 and 2007. He also served as the Secretary, Justice and Peace Committee of the Town Union.
Nwachinemelu did his pupilage as a young lawyer in the Chambers of Late Barr. BC Igwe and his lovely wife AB Igwe, both of whom were murdered by suspected agents of Mbadinuju government in 2001. Casmir later established his law office and served as a 2 term Vice Chairman NBA Aguata Branch. He was the Head of CASMIR NWAFOR CHAMBERS. He was also the Chairman of Human Rights Committee of the NBA Aguata Branch. Nwachinemelu started his interest in politics at the age of 9 observing meetings and attending political rallies of NPP and NPN in Awka. He became a member of SDP in 1990 and worked hard for the election of Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife (OKWADIKE) as Governor of Anambra State. Alongside, Isingidi Akpu, Hon. Ben Nwankwo, Casmir was close to OKWADIKE despite his age and helped stabilize students’ union activities in the higher institutions in Anambra State. He was appointed Special Assistant to Barr. Clems Ezika in 1999 as the Chairman Dunukofia LG Council. He held office as the Chairman of PDP Orumba North LGA in 2002 in the fight to rescue Anambra State from Chinwoke Mbadinuju. Capt. Barr. Casmir Nwafor Rtd, was the First Anambra State Deputy Youth Leader of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and Orumba North Constituency House of Assembly candidate of the Party in 2003. He is also the Secretary, Board of Trustees Nnamdi Azikiwe University Alumni Association.
Casmir has Advanced Certificate in Forensic Investigation and Criminal Intelligence from UNILAG.
He also holds a PGD in Security Management and Police Administration from ABU ZARIA. While in the Army, he helped some indigenes of Orumba get into the Army, solved some issues of some who are already recruited as well as helped in posting and redeployment of Orumba people in their NYSC program.
He retired from the Nigerian Army to seek the support of his constituents to give them quality representation at the Federal House of Representatives. He believes that NdIgbo has not been treated well which has worsened in the past 3 years under Buhari regime. Unfortunately, Ndigbo voice in the NASS isn’t articulated and loud enough. He presents himself to the constituents and offers to be their voice, eyes and hands in the green chamber. His associates include Hon. Barr. Uche Onyeagucha, Dr. Fredrick Faseun of OPC, Senator Shehu Sani, Hon. Abdul Oroh, Hon. Ossai N Ossai, Osita Chidoka (Ike Obosi), Vice Chancellors, Rectors and many Academicians to mention but a few. He is a legal practitioner, retired military officer, special investigator, security and forensic expert.
The choices we make is dictated by the times and curcumstances we find ourselves. Nwachinemelu is who we need now.
This is just a brief of the Man, NWACHINEMELU CASMIR NWAFOR, the man for the job!
Orumba Kunienu!!!
