Former National President of the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF), Dr. Eugene Nweke has said that his disqualification is a price he has to pay for a peaceful election and a simple demonstration of passion for the development of freight forwarding profession in Nigeria.
Dr. Nweke and three others were last Friday disqualified following some undisclosed reasons during screening of contestants for the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN) Governing Council election scheduled for Friday, 29th June, 2018 in Lagos.
Reacting to his disqualification in a statement in Lagos, Dr. Nweke however congratulated the leadership of the five accredited freight forwarding associations for overwhelmingly defending and adhering to its joint resolution on sharing formula.
He explained that the four of them that stood in as independent candidates, did so with a mindsets to add credence to the electioneering process.
“It is for the love and commitment for the development of our profession that I and other independent candidates shall not resort to court of competent jurisdiction to seek redress, in the face of open threats to our life and against obvious political manipulation and intrigues that played out pre and during the screening exercise.
“Our collective reason for this being not to further delay the process of revamping the CRFFN, which having suffered from 4 years of proactive infrastructural and institutionalization progress and 6 years of administrative stagnation and professional retrogression.
“May I also use this medium to congratulate all the 15 decided candidates cum winners, awaiting official declaration, to all of you, I wish to charge you to be professional and service oriented.
“Finally, to all my followers and well-meaning colleagues, who saw the need for independent candidates to emerge in the process, to you all reserve the quest, future, sustenance, truancy and passion for our profession.
“May I call on you to join hand for the actualization and enthronement of professionalism in our freight forwarding practices in Nigeria. By so doing, we shall gradually reclaim back our lost freight components already in the hands of the foreigners”.
