The Anambra State Government has said that the Facebook account known as Gov. Willie Obiano which urges commercial motorcycle operators in the State to pay the sum of N170, 000 to a certain Ezeugo James with telephone number 08033753045 as a deposit for a tricycle does not belong to the Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano.

In a statement issued in Awka yesterday, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Willie Obiano, Mr. James Eze disclosed that the fake Facebook account created by some nefarious elements with the intention of defrauding unsuspecting members of the public of their money in the name of Governor Obiano.

He explained that the arrangement for the gradual phasing out of commercial motorcycle (Okada) and its replacement with shuttle buses and not tricycle as announced in the fake Facebook post in Anambra State was handled by the Anambra Small Business Agency (ASBA) and not by an individual.

He therefore warned that anyone who decides to approach Ezeugo James or any individual for a tricycle loan facility would be doing so at his/her own peril.

The statement reads,” This is to warn the general public that the Facebook account known as Gov Willie Obiano which urges commercial motorcycle operators in Anambra State to pay the sum of N170, 000 to a certain Ezeugo James with telephone number 08033753045 as a deposit for a tricycle does not belong to the Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano.

“It is a fake Facebook account created by some nefarious elements with the intention of defrauding unsuspecting members of the public of their money in the name of Governor Obiano.

“For the avoidance of doubt the arrangement for the gradual phasing out of commercial motorcycle (Okada) and its replacement with shuttle buses (not tricycle as announced in the fake Facebook post) in Anambra State is handled by the Anambra Small Business Agency (ASBA) and not by an individual. Anyone who decides to approach Ezeugo James or any individual for a tricycle loan facility is doing so at his/her own peril”.
