In a bid to rejig the operations of the Nigeria Customs Service to meet the challenges of fighting smuggling, revenue collection and trade facilitation, the Comptroller-General of Customs, Col. Hameed Ibrahim Ali (Rtd) has approved the redeployment of 70 Comptrollers of Customs.

Among those affected are Comptrollers, Abubakar Bashir who moves from Port-Harcourt II (Onne) to Apapa, Musa Jibrin from Apapa to Human Resources Development, Sa’idu Galadima moves from Information Communication Technology (ICT) to Port-Harcourt Area II (Onne), while Comptroller, Mohammed Aliyu of Seme Command swapped positions with Comptroller, Mohammed Garba of Federal Operations Unit Zone ‘A’ among others.

While giving his approval for the redeployment, the CGC said, Federal Government policies on Agriculture, Economy and Security can only be successful with a strong, determined and patriotic Customs Service. He charged all affected officers to bring their experiences to bear in their new postings by fighting smugglers to a standstill and collecting every collectable revenue.

“In the face of challenging security situation and increasing inclination to non-oil revenue drive, the Service must step up to be counted as a necessary safety valve for National growth”, he said.

The redeployment is with immediate effect.

While commending Gov.Ambode for shutting down the “illegal bonded terminals “in Ajegunle, may I passionately appeal to His Excellency to go the whole hug in prosecuting his colluding officials along with all those involved in the conversion of such densely populated residential areas to bonded terminals and tank farms to serve as a deterrent to the greedy and callous ones still contemplating such line of business in total brazen breach of extant urban and physical planning laws of the State of Excellence.
You may wish to visit Festac Town 11road from 1st Avenue left&31 road block of flats from COP,these dirty occupants of these areas have refused to repair their sewage but rather chose to channel their human waste to the gutters disregarding the inherent danger of epidemic associated with such unhealthy living habit thereby endangering the lives of the entire neighbourhood with offensive putrid stench of human faeces ,all these equally has compounded the stress wrought on residents from dilapidated road network in Festac Town and with no sign of an LGA leadership in charge.
Thank you ,Your Excellency and may God Almighty remain your strength for your exemplary purposeful leadership of Lagos State.
    Ever Truly Yours
