House of Representatives hopeful for the Orumba North/South Federal Constituency of Anambra State, Captain Casmir Chinonso Nwafor (rtd.) has received a Special Merit Award at an event to mark the 27 years anniversary of Orumba North Local Government Area.

The event which kicked off with anniversary lecture held at the main Auditorium of the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, capped it up with an award ceremony at the Council Pavilion, Ajalli with many dignitaries receiving different categories of Awards in recognition of their contribution to the growth and development of the Local Government Area.

Presenting the award to Captain Nwafor, the Orumba North Local Government Transition Chairman, Hon. Emeka Aforka extolled his contributions to the growth and development adding that the award was in recognition of his military professionalism, defence and security of the Nigerian State.

Responding, Captain Casmir Nwafor who is also a lawyer to congratulated the Chairman of Orumba North LGA, Chief Emeka Aforka, Member representing Orumba North Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly Hon. Romanus Obi, the leader of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the Local Government, Chief Okwudili Ezenwankwo and the entire people of Orumba North LGA for the successful celebration of the event describing it as a great occasion.

He pointed out that it was a good thing that the people closed ranks and celebrated as one people saying that the task ahead of the people of the Council Area was enormous and that nobody can do it alone, hence the need for them to be united.

“No man is an island, so one way or the other we must complement one another. No one is useless in a group; everyone has an area where he is good at no matter how little it may look. This is why our people say that anyukoo maamiri ogbaa ufufu. Let us learn to be team players. I assure you that the light of Orumba North LGA shall never die; rather it shall grow from strength to strength.

“On the other hand, I thank the Orumba North LGA for the honour done to me by the Special Merit Award given to me on the occasion. It will really spur me into doing greater things for our LGA, Constituency, State and Ndi Igbo in general”, he said.

It will be recalled that Captain Nwafor had earlier this year received an Outstanding Leadership Award from the Primetime Reporters online Newspapers in Lagos for his sacrifice for the nation in the fight against Boko Haram insurgents in the North Eastern part of Nigeria and for his philantropy.
