Stakeholders to brainstorm on Ease of Doing Business, exports trade in Nigeria

All is now set for all maritime stakeholders and others to discuss the Ease of Doing Business in Nigeria and how it can boost exports in diversifying the economy.

The event which is being organized by the Searchlight Media Concepts to mark its first year anniversary and honours has as a theme “Boosting Exports Trade, Economic Growth with the Ease of Doing Business Tool”, is holding this Saturday 18 August, 2018 at the Airport Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos.

According to the Planning Committee Chairman of the event, Mr. Innocent Orok, three papers will be presented at the ceremony.  The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) is expected to deliver a paper titled, “Facilitating Legitimate Trade towards Achieving Ease of Doing Business in Nigerian Ports: Nigeria Customs Service Perspective”.

The Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC) will talk on “The Role of Ports Economic Regulator in Promoting Exports Trade in Nigeria” while NARTO will talk on “Developing Critical Infrastructure for Logistic needs of the Port Industry”.

The occasion which will be chaired by Alhaji Taiwo Mustapha, the new Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BOT) of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) will also honour deserving Nigerians who have excelled in their various fields of endeavors.

Among the honorees are the Zonal Coordinator, Zone A of the Nigeria Customs Service, ACG Aminu Dahiru, President of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN), Comrade Adewale Adeyanju, immediate past Customs Controllers of Apapa Customs Command, Comptroller Musa Jubrin, Controller of the Federal Operations Unit Zone A, Comptroller Mohammed Uba, the Tin Can Island Controller, Musa M.B.A and the immediate past National President of ANLCA, Prince Olayiwola Shittu.

Others are National President of the National Association Road Transport Owners (NARTO), Dr. Kasim Bataiya, Managing Director of Inland Container Nigeria Limited (ICNL), Alhaji Ismail Yusuf, President of SSATAC, Ya’u Adamu Gora, Engineer Bede Obayi of the Standards Organization of Nigeria (SON) and Hajia Bola Idayat Muse, a woman leader in ANLCA.

Three commands’ Public Relations Officers of the Nigeria Customs Service, SC Uche Ejesieme of Tin Can Island command, DSC Nkiruka Nwala of Apapa command and ASC Jerome Attah of FOU A are also to be honoured for their outstanding feats in their duties among other dignitaries.

The planners of the event said that they are partnering with a reputable maritime journalists’ group, the Association of Maritime Journalists of Nigeria (AMJON) as its social function of setting agenda to put government on it toes to deliver on its mandates.
