…Calls for true reconciliation to achieve peace, unity
The APGA House of Representatives candidate for Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency of Anambra State in the 2019 general election, Chief Tony Iju Nwabunike on Friday arrived his country home amidst jubilation as APGA faithful comprising of party leaders, delegates and stakeholders were on hand to welcome him.
It was indeed an evening of praise and thanksgiving to God as the gathering prayed for APGA, Nigeria and her leaders at all levels even as Iju flanked by party leaders in the constituency rendered worship songs to God before addressing the gathering.
Addressing the gathering, Iju said, “I called this meeting to thank you all and to chart the way forward. Yes I am fortunate to have won the primary but it is not by my power or by might but of God who chooses leaders. Thank you all once again for the confidence you bestowed on me by electing me to be your flag bearer and to represent our great party in the forthcoming general election slated for February 2019”.
He admitted that it wasn’t easy at all bearing in mind the incident that occurred on the 5th of October, 2018 at Beverly Hills Hotels saying, “Most of us that has higher temperature will understand how I felt that day but we must thank Almighty God that despite all, no life was lost. We will continue to pray that the perpetrators of that evil act never go unpunished”.
He continued, “I must admit that in the last contest that produced me, all the aspirants have the capacity, what it takes and qualification to represent this great constituency, however there can only be one winner. Ya mere umunnem, now that the winner has emerged, let’s come together as one big family to move our great party forward.
“The truth is that we all won the election, as such no grievances will be left unresolved. In fact, we are going to set up a reconciliation committee to enable us come together as one to achieve victory for our great party come 2019. We will make sure that all our local government executives, ward executives and teeming members reconciles and unite for the battle ahead. The truth is that APGA as a big political party, having issues during primaries sometimes just as we saw in both PDP and APC is inevitable.
“Again, I want to make it unequivocally clear that we must all be involved in this coming glorious victory. I will soon set up sub-committees so we’d get everyone involved from the local government to the ward level. And if at last the victory is achieved which I know God have already sanctioned it, I’d work with all the local government Chairmen in the next 4 years. Mine will be all inclusive representation so you’d see that there is huge difference between egbe na egbe!
“Lastly I want to add that contrary to general fear that I may return to my former party, APGA has become my first love and I will do everything within my power to build our beloved party APGA to be stronger than I met it… This is the spirit of ONYE AGHANA NWANNE YA!”
