Police arrest armed robbers in Sango-Ota, Ketu, Okota, recover arms, others

The Lagos State Police command has arrested two armed robbery suspects, namely Suleiman Seun, 31 years and Olamilekan Olaoluwa, 24 years at Fashola Estate, Sango-Ota while robbing vehicle spare parts dealers.

According to the Commissioner of Police Lagos State, CP Edgal Imohimi who made this known while parading the suspects before journalists in Lagos yesterday, on the 12/09/2018, at about 1230 hours, information was received from a reliable source that some armed robbers were sighted at Fashola Estate, Sango-Ota robbing vehicle spare parts dealers.

CP Edgal noted that the command, on receiving the information, mobilized its operatives attached to the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) and that of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS) Ikeja to the scene.

He added that the armed robbers, on sighting the operatives, took to flight even as he pointed out that luck ran out on two of them, namely Suleiman Seun, 31 years and Olamilekan Olaoluwa, 24 years whose attempts to flee the scene were not successful.

Items recovered from them according to the Lagos Police Chief include; one locally made pistol, cut-to size barrel gun, four wheels of a Land Rover SUV and two tyres and two auto batteries.

He disclosed that investigation was ongoing with a view to arresting the fleeing members of the gang for prosecution.

In a related development, the Lagos State Police Command has arrested one Lekan Ashiru, 22 years over his involvement in robbing passersby of their valuables along Agility Road, Ketu Lagos.

The Commissioner of Police Lagos State, CP Edgal Imohimi observed that the command had on 13/09/2018 at about 1900 hours, received information that some dare devil armed robbers were robbing passersby of their valuables along Agility Road, Ketu Lagos leading to the deployment of operatives from Ketu Police Station and FSARS, Ketu to the scene.

“However, on sighting the Police, the robbers ran in different directions but one of them, Lekan Ashiru, 22 years was not so lucky as he was arrested at the scene with a locally made pistol and three live cartridges. Investigation is ongoing with a view to arresting other members of the gang for prosecution”, he said.

He further revealed that the command on the 26/05/2018, at about 0900 hours, received information from members of the public that some armed bandits were robbing shop owners along St. Saviour Street, Okota, Lagos.

He continued, “Based on the information, operatives of the State Intelligence Bureau and FSARS were jointly mobilized to the scene. On sighting the operatives, the armed robbers took to their heels, luckily for the team, they were able to arrest one of them by name, Alexander Oluwaseyi, 32 years old, who claimed to be a student of Kogi State University but was rusticated by the school authorities due to cult activities.

“Exhibits recovered from him include; one cut to size double barrel gun and two live cartridges.

“The common denominator of the three armed robbery cases mentioned so far, is that the gang members were in action before information was received and the police responded swiftly, taking the fight to the robbers at the scene”.
