…Fake Soldier, others arrested for unlawful possession of firearm
The Lagos State Police command has arrested a 37 year old man identified as Sikiru Tanimowo for allegedly stealing a 4 year old boy, Abu Yusuf at Okokomaiko area of Lagos State.
The Commissioner of Police Lagos State, CP Edgal Imohimi who disclosed this at press briefing in Lagos yesterday said that information was received from a credible source on the 6th day of January, 2019, at about 0955hrs that a man was seen moving around Otun Market Square in a suspicious manner, holding a little boy in his hand.
According to the CP, acting on the information, operatives of the command attached to Okokomaiko Division, moved swiftly to the location and arrested the suspect who gave his name as Sikiru Tanimowo, 37 years old along with the little boy who also gave his name as Abu Yusuf, 4 years old.
He disclosed that the suspect later led detectives to the location where he picked the child adding that the police were able to locate the boy’s parents who said that they had been looking for the child even as they admitted that they had never met the suspect before.
“Case is currently under investigation with a view to prosecuting the suspect in the court of law. Meanwhile, the child has been reunited with his parents”, the CP said.
Meanwhile, the operatives of the Lagos State Police command attached to the Anti-cultism unit, on January 6, 2019, at about 1800hrs, while on routine patrol, intercepted a Toyota Camry Saloon Car with four occupants namely; Ismaila Ebenizer ‘m’ 38 years, a fake soldier, Hillary Nwoha ‘m’ 40 years, Iwuagwu Joseph ‘m’ 33 years and Iwuanyanwu Ifeanyi ‘m’ 60 years.
CP Edgal Imohimi who disclosed this yesterday said that on searching their vehicle, a pump action rifle was recovered.
He added that investigation so far revealed that the suspects belong to a kidnapping gang terrorizing Ikorodu axis of the state.
He further said that “Suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigation is over. In the same vein, the command arrested a total of 23 suspected cultists in various parts of the state and recovered 32 live cartridges from them”.
