The Lagos State Police command has said that there is no truth in the news making the rounds on the social media, Instablog9ja in particular, that the son of the owner of Dellankester Hotels and Suites, Lekki Phase one, Lagos, one Don Chima George, 25, and his friend, Razak Oluwaseun Oke, 28, who were accused of raping their female friend after drugging her, have been allowed to go scot free because the police collected bribe from their parents.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Chike Oti who clear the air on the allegation said that contrary to speculations, the accused persons, one Don Chima George and his partner in crime, Oluwaseun Oke were arraigned in Family Court 3, Magistrate Court, Ogba on Wednesday February 6, 2019, for the offence bothering on conspiracy and sexual assault by penetration to wit, rape.

Oti added that after the charge was read to accused persons, the honourable court remanded them in prison custody pending legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecution and that the case was adjourned till March 7, 2019.

He further disclosed that the accused persons would be produced in court on March 7, 2019 even as he added that the accused persons were currently in Kirikiri prisons.

“In summary, the duo, Don Chima George and Oluwaseun Rasak Oke, were lawfully arraigned in a court of competent jurisdiction and at no point were they granted bail by the police nor the court.

“The Command therefore wishes to advise members of the public to be wary of fake and unsubstantiated news emanating from  Rumour Mills and enjoins the press to always cross check with relevant agencies before publishing”, he stated.
