…Demand Oye’s resignation, refund
A Coalition of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) aggrieved aspirants has vowed to stop all the party’s candidates in the forthcoming House of Assembly election in the state if their demands are not met.
The group numbering over four hundred said that what happened on Saturday, February 23, 2019 would be a child’s play compared to what would hit the party come Saturday, March 9, 2019.
Addressing newsmen in Awka, the Anambra State capital, the Chairman of Coalition, Hon. Owelle Onyeka Mbaso flanked by other aggrieved members reiterated the group’s demand for the resignation of the National Chairman of the party, Ozonkpu Victor Ike Oye as well as a refund of the monies they said were collected from them during what they described as botched APGA’s primary election.
He stated that the group would not allow APGA to die noting that they were patriotic and committed members who believed in the party’s ideology.
According to him, the demand became necessary following what they described as abysmal performance of the party in the just concluded National Assembly election which he said; saw the All Progressives Grand Alliance losing to the opposition parties in the state.
He further decried the situation where the National Chairman lost his polling Unit to the opposition and other ranking members of the state government from Anambra Central who failed to deliver their wards.
He called the Executive Governor of the state, Chief Dr. Willie Obiano to implement the agreement which he said the governor reached with the group and also parley with them on how to turn the fortunes of the party around for good in the forthcoming election as failure to heed to their demands would affect the fortunes of the party negatively in the election outcome.
For his part, a member of the Implementation Committee and also an aspirant, Dr. Charles Ebulue said that the group had the numerical strength and the capacity to wreck havoc on the party come March 9, 2019 while appealing to the governor to shun those he described as cabal in the party and invite them to round table discussion.
“Governor Willie Obiano is gentleman; we know that he will not allow the cabal to deceive him. He understands the implications of APGA occupying minority seats in the 7th Assembly. We love our party, APGA. We will not allow it to die”, he said.
In an interview, an aggrieved aspirant for Idemili South State Constituency, Hon. Hubert Oragui urged the governor to listen and do justice to their demands noting that the group had what it takes to make or mar the party’s outing come March 9, 2019.
