The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has summoned members of the National Executive Committee (NECOM) of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) to appear before its Lagos office on Monday 15th April, 2019.
The National Vice President of ANLCA, Dr. Kayode Farinto who disclosed this during the NECOM meeting held at the National Secretariat of the association in Lagos on Tuesday said that the reason for the invitation was not made known to them.
Farinto stated that despite the fact that they were in the dark as to why the invitation was extended to them, they would honour the invitation and offer explanation to whatever question put forward to them by the commission.
He however informed that the current administration in ANLCA had earlier engaged the services of an internal auditor who had audited the account of the association in the last one year adding that this was the first of its kind in the history of ANLCA.
According to him,” Let me also tell you that we have been invited by the EFCC, this present NECOM to come on Monday, we have not known why but we are going to go there because that is what we have signed for. Don’t pity me, when we get there, it is explanation that will be given to them.
“We have also succeeded in doing one thing and that is why I give it to him (National Secretary), we have an internal auditor who has audited our account in the last twelve months. It has never happened in the history of ANLCA. So, whatever pin that we spend, it goes through processes because anybody can ask question because if we are now querying people, we should expect people too to also query us in all the things we are doing. We are not saying that we are perfect but what I know is that the ANLCA of yesterday is not the ANLCA of today.
“So, when we get to EFCC, we know why we were invited, after that, we now issue a press release and we will let the press know that we have been invited and this is the reason and we are back”.
