The Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) has said that it will on Saturday this week dissolve all the committees set up as well as all the political appointments made in the last one year so as to inject new blood into the administration to enable it achieve its mandate.
The National Secretary of ANLCA, Alhaji Abdulazeez Babatunde Mukaila who disclosed this at the National Executive Committee (NECOM) meeting held at the National Secretariat of the association in Lagos yesterday stated that the current ANLCA administration would be one year old on the 13th of April, 2019 hence the need to review the membership of committees and political appointments made in the last one year as a proviso on their letters of appointment stated that their appointments would run for a period of one year after which it could be reviewed.
Mukaila noted that in view of the above, there was going to be a lot of rejigging adding that a committee was going to be set up at the end of the meeting review the achievements, challenges and prospects made by the administration in the last one year.
According to him,”We have appointed people into committees and it is well established that everybody just want the ID Card or the name. I am seeing some faces here now that have been away for six to seven months and if that is the case, then we need to repackage how we deliver on the campaign promises of this government.
“Having said that, there is going to be a small committee set up to look into this, let us explain the journey, how far, what are the challenges, what can we learn from the challenges and how can we forge ahead. One year is just like yesterday, it is gone, thank God we still have three years to make the difference.
“So, the committee will be set up and then we let every member of ANLCA know what we are coming up with. But the proviso here is that committees will be dissolved, new committees will come up, there will be changes in the lineup of committees. We want service delivery, that is what we pledged.
“So, I am throwing a challenge, if you felt you want to do anything with ANLCA, can you give us a proposal and tell us what you can do. Enough of put me in a committee that you don’t have anything to contribute there. So, that is the thinking now”.
Collaborating the views expressed by Mukaila, the National Vice President of the association, Dr. Kayode Farinto said,” On the 13th of April by the grace of God, all the existing committees and SSAs stand dissolved because your letter reads one year and what we are going to use this time around is assessment, even if you are my father’s brother and you have headed a committee but we have not seen your impact, please don’t expect that you are going to be reappointed.
“I am saying this emphatically now, you are not going to be reappointed and if you are SSA, you tell me the role that you have played as an SSA. We have over twenty SSAs but I know that only one or two of them are functional and I know that there are people on the field. So, if you think you are an SSA, that you have been given an ID card, the ID card is expiring on the 13th of April”.
