… Focuses on digitizing Igbo contents

In line with the vision of Gov. Willie Obiano of Anambra State “to raise the pool of young entrepreneurs that would dictate the pace in the digital world,” the State Government through the Ministry of Youth Empowerment and Creative Economy has trained young persons on online editing with focus on digitizing Igbo contents while reducing unemployment.

The training which was hosted by Digipreneur Hub, an initiative rooted in the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth Development and Digital Entrepreneurship aims at arming digital enthusiasts who can read and write in Igbo language with the necessary skills required to access the various Wikimedia projects to enable them capture and upload Igbo contents online as well as translate existing contents into Igbo language.

Aside the cultural advantages of the training, participants are expected to become digital entrepreneurs who shall not only be self-reliant but also engage others to create wealth using digital skills learnt.

The just concluded training brings the total number of persons trained on online editing in the past year to 220 through a special partnership with Igbo Wikimedians User Group.

Recall that Digipreneur Hub was berthed in the state to guide digital enthusiasts on self-development; give them the right orientation before arming them with desirable digital skills.

Through the hub, the government listens, reflects and guides digital enthusiasts along the way providing clarity and direction in their journey to becoming digital entrepreneurs.

The participants were thereafter enlisted into an alumni group for continuous coaching and mentoring.
