… IGP decries the incident, warns that enough is enough

Another violent protest by members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) popularly known as Shiite involving over three thousand (3000) of its followers took place today, within the Central Business District of Abuja.

A statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba disclosed that the heavily armed protesters defying all sense of decency violently attacked innocent citizens and Police personnel on duty.

The statement noted that the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, FCT Command, DCP Usman A.K Umar, was shot in the process and was fatally injured by the protesters.

It added that the officer who was immediately rushed to the hospital died moments later while receiving treatment adding that two (2) Assistant Superintendents of Police and a Staff of Channels Television sustained serious injuries and were currently receiving treatment.

“The violent protesters also razed down a National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Response Post close to the Federal Secretariat, Abuja and two (2) vehicles.

“Meanwhile, the Police have arrested fifty-four (54) suspects in connection with the incidents. The suspects are undergoing interrogation and will be arraigned in court as soon as possible.

“The IGP, while commiserating with the family of the late DCP, condemns the incident and warns that enough-is-enough as the Force and the nation at large will not continue to suffer losses on account of reckless and lawless persons and groups in the society”, the statement said.

The Shiite members clashed with the Police at the federal secretariat during a protest to compel the federal government to release its leader, Ibraheem El-Zalzaky.

The protest which began from NITEL junction at Wuse 2 was disrupted by the armed policemen who cordoned off the road leading to the National Assembly and the three arm zone.

    Adieu DCP Umar.
For The SHITTE to vow to sacrifice their over 2 million members in their unrelenting violent protests is enough warning for this government to hasten the release of their leader Sheik Elzakyzaky and avoid further waste of precious lives of SHITTE members and security agents defending the innocent citizens.
These group may turnout far worst than Bokoharam if not urgently pacified with the immidiate release of their leader and Nigeria will be worst off.
