Following the dissolution of the John Ojukwu – led Interim State Executive Committee of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in Anambra State, the National Executive Committee (NEC) has appointed Hon. Martins U. Ekweozor JP as the Acting Chairman for a period of three months commencing from Thursday, July 4, 2019.
A statement signed by the Head, Research, Planning & Strategy of the Party, Dipo Olayoku said that the dissolution of the John Ojukwu-led Interim State Executive came on the heels of the expiration of the 3 months given him and his Executives to conduct a democratically acceptable State Congress to put in place a substantive State Executive Committee of the Party.
“The NEC has therefore appointed Hon. Martins U. Ekweozor in acting capacity for a period of 3 months within which an interim State Executive Committee is put in place to work with him and at the same time conduct a State Congress where the substantive democratically elected State Executive Committee would emerge.
“NEC is taking these strategic giant strides towards positioning the party for the forthcoming 2020 Gubernatorial Election in Anambra State in line with the spirit and the provisions of the Constitution of our great Party.
“As a forward looking party, geared towards evolving the New Nigeria of our dream, NNPP is poised to making its impact felt in subsequent elections following the cheering and encouraging results recorded by the party in the recent 2019 elections, cutting across Bauchi State and other States of the federation where we won State Assembly seat, Federal House of Representatives and Senatorial seat being contested at the Election Petition Tribunal.
“We consider all these as a huge step for us and it is a mandate that we must start now to reposition NNPP for the 2023 general elections”, the statement said.
