…Arrest armed robbery suspects, recover arms, operational Tricycle
The Anambra State Police command has arrested a principal suspect in the murder of a 25 year old Keke driver, Chidi Mgbeanya who was shot on the head and brutally murdered at Umudioka on Tuesday at about 8.00 am and his tricycle snatched leaving him in the pool of his blood.
A statement by the command’s spokesman, SP Haruna Mohammed on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Anambra State, disclosed that Police detectives attached to Dunukofia, Ogbunike in conjunction with vigilante group cordoned off the entire area following the incident and launched intensive manhunt for the perpetrators of the dastardly act and subsequently arrested the principal suspect, Chidibere Okechukwu aka “EWETE OKU”.
Mohammed added that the “Suspect who was alleged to have been previously convicted for a similar offence equally confessed to the crime and is assisting the Police with useful information that could help arrest his accomplices after which they would be brought to Justice”.
In a related development, the operatives of Operation Puff Ader in conjunction with Patrol team attached to B’ Division Awka has smashed a robbery syndicate operating close to Roselife Hotel situated along Old INEC Road, Awka and arrested the following suspects; Audu Paul Victor alias “executioner”, aged 20 years who hails from Ejule in Ufu LGA of Kogi State but residing at Nodu Market Road, Awka and John Okoli alias “ocha”, aged 28years who hails from Okposhi in Ohaozara LGA of Ebonyi State, but resides at Mbaukwu.
According to SP Haruna Mohammed, exhibits recovered from the suspects include a locally made cut-to-size single barrel gun loaded with a live cartridge, a tricycle with registration number: IMO UML 452 Q6 and a vehicle identification number 2981.
He added that the case is under investigation after which suspects would be charged to Court for prosecution.
