…Two others for armed robbery
Police detectives attached to Ogidi Division of the Anambra State Police command have arrested two suspects namely; Dabem Okeke, 28 and Okechukwu Okafor, 37, both of Aniuku Village, Ogidi in Idemili North LGA of the state in connection with the murder of one Chinedu Okoye, 24, of Umuru Village also in Ogidi.
Confirming the arrest in a statement in Awka, the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, SP Haruna Mohammed disclosed that the suspects stormed the house of one Ifeanyichukwu Kamsisichukwu, 20, forced her to open her door and took away the deceased who until his death was her boyfriend and shot him with a gun.
Mohammed added that the scene of the incident was visited and the victim who sustained a gunshot injury on the back was rushed to Twinkle hospital Ogidi for medical attention and was certified dead by a Medical Doctor while receiving treatment.
He further revealed that the corpse of the deceased was deposited at the Iyienu Hospital Morgue, Ogidi for autopsy.
“Meanwhile, exhibits recovered from the suspects include one single barrel gun allegedly used in perpetrating the crime.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the principal suspect, Dabem Okoye who allegedly pulled the trigger was suspected to be having a logger head with the deceased over a girlfriend. Case under investigation after which suspects would be charged to Court for prosecution”, he stated.
In a related development, Police detectives attached to Eziowelle Division of the Anambra State Police command in conjunction with Abatete Vigilante Group have arrested two armed robbery suspects who have been terrorizing the area with robberies and other heinous crimes.
The command’s spokesman, SP Haruna Mohammed who disclosed this in a statement in Awka gave the names of the suspects as; Ifeoma Joy Ugegbe alias Sabath, 20 and Ifeanyi Chinweze alias Cheplat, 19, both from Oranto Ukpo in Dunukofia LGA of Anambra State.
According to Mohammed, exhibits recovered from the suspects included one cut to size single barrel gun loaded with a cartridge.
“Case under investigation after which suspects would be charged to Court for prosecution, he said.
