Three suspects in Police net for producing fake, adulterated drinks in Lagos

The Lagos State Police command has arrested three suspects namely: Dare Shittu, 27, Shittu Opeyemi Abdusalam, 19 and Oyenuga Biola, 29 for producing large quantities of alcoholic beverages suspected to be adulterated.

According to the spokesman of the command, Bala Elkana, in a statement in Lagos, based on information received on 20th June, 2019 at about 12.00noon about illegal production of alcoholic beverages at No. 5 Chapel Street, off Apongbon, Lagos Island, a team of operatives from the State Intelligence Bureau was deployed to the area on surveillance patrol leading to the arrest of the suspects.

Elkana revealed that the beverages brands being produced by the suspects included; Hennessy Vsop,  Hennessy Xo, Moet Chandon, Jack Daniel,  Remy Martins, Red label among others.

He further stated that jerricans of substances suspected to be ethanol, cognac coloration, rubber cocks, top cocks, labels, stickers and other instruments used in the illegal business were recovered from the illegal production mini factory.

“The suspects confessed to the commission of the crime. Police is on the trail of one Prince Fatai Shittu, who is still at large. Suspects were charged to court and remanded in prison custody”, he added.
