Police detectives attached to 33 Division of the Anambra State Police command has arrested one Ogbang Clement, aged 34 years and Udeh Orji aged 21, both private security personnel attached to Independent Layout Estate, Nkwelle Ezunaka in Oyi Local Government Area of the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the command, SP Haruna Mohammed who confirmed the arrest in statement in Awka yesterday revealed that the suspects conspired and robbed one Ogbonna Usulor of Nkwelle Ezunaka of his phone and other personal belongings.
Mohammed added that exhibits recovered in their possession included a locally made pistol loaded with life ammunition and the robbed items.
He further disclosed that Police detectives attached to B’ Division Awka, at about 2.00am on 25 July, 2019, following intelligence report, arrested one Chizoba Modelu aged 25 years of Obuno Ebenebe village in Awka North LGA of Anambra State.
According to him, suspect along with his accomplices now at large allegedly snatched at gunpoint a Toyota Avalon with Registration NO KTU 885-AT from one Barr Anachusi John Uchenna.
He observed that the car was recovered with the plate number already detached from the vehicle but the Registration number was engraved on its glasses.
He noted that the case was under investigation and that effort was ongoing to apprehend other accomplices in order to bring them to justice.
“Similarly, one Obi Alexander of Ogun State was also arrested by Police detectives attached to 33 Division Onitsha.
“Suspect conspired with one Felix Ekuneme ‘m’ aged 48 years of Holy Trinity Estate now at large and stole a Toyota Camry belonging to one Ozoemana Madu of Tobis Estate where parked”, he added.
Continuing, SP Haruna informed that on the 24 July, 2019 at about 02:30am, Police detectives attached to Okpoko Division of the command also arrested one Ekene Offorka, 19 and Ekene Ndidigwe, 18 both of Ezeagu in Enugu State for stealing tricycle.
He explained that the suspects who specialised in stealing tricycles at night using high technical knowledge of defusing any tricycle security stole a tricycle belonging to one Ekeson Pius of Udeaja Street, Okpoko on the 17 July, 2019.
He said,” Meanwhile, the tricycle was recovered from the suspects and case is under investigation after which suspects would be charged to court for prosecution.”
He continued,”Also on the 19/07/2019 at about 2:pm, Police patrol team attached to Eziowelle Division in conjunction with vigilante group in Abatete arrested one Ikwumelu Chinwoke Emmanuel ‘m’ aged 22 years of Ire Ogbu Abatete.
“Suspect boarded a tricycle along Olulu-udu, Ogbu Abatete and stabbed the tricyclist, one Monday Elom ‘m’ aged 34 years of Nkwelle Ogidi on his shoulder right inside his moving Keke-Napep in a bid to snatch the tricycle.
“Consequently, victim was rushed to hospital for treatment while the knife used in the attack was recovered as exhibit. Case is under investigation after which suspect would be charged to court for prosecution.”
Haruna however quoted the Commissioner of Police, Anambra State, CP John Abang as further reassuring all Ndi Anambra that the command under his watch would continue to work assiduously until crime in the State was reduced to the barest minimum.
“The CP also implores well-meaning members of the public resident in the state to cooperate with the Police and report suspicious person(s) or movement(s) to the nearest Police Station or through the command emergency number-07039194332 for prompt action.”
