Zamfara State Governor, Bello Matawalle has described as fake news the report which alleged that his convoy was attacked by political thugs killing two Policemen and injuring many.
An online newspaper (not Primetime Reporters) yesterday reported that no fewer than two policemen have been killed as thugs suspected to belong to a political party attacked the convoy of the governor on Thursday, killing two armed policemen, leaving many with various degrees of injuries.
The report also said that the armed bandits attacked the governor’s convoy very close to Funtua in Katsina State, a border town with Zamfara state.
However, Governor Matawalle in his official twitter handle denied the report saying that two Policemen were left behind to oversee the repairs of a broken vehicle from his convoy in Zaria, Kaduna State and that on their way back to Gusau, they had an accident which claimed two lives.
“This is fake news, my convoy wasn’t attacked. Two policemen were left behind to oversee the repairs of a broken vehicle from our convoy in Zaria, on their way back to Gusau they had an accident which claimed the lives of Aminu Usman and Nura Mohammed. May their soul rest in peace”, he explained.
