The Lagos State Police command has commenced investigation to unravel the cause of the fire incident that gutted an apartment in Abagbo village, Takwa Bay on the 6th August, 2019 killing five children of the same family.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the command, DSP Bala Elkana who confirmed the incident in a statement in Lagos on Sunday stated that at about 10.30am on the 7th August, 2019, Takwa bay Police Station received an information that was a fire incident at Abagbo Village, Takwa-Bay a day before which claimed the lives of five children from the same family.
According to Elkana, a team of Detectives led by the Divisional Police Officer visited the scene.
“In her statement, the Mother of the victims, Florence Asoye stated that she left home at about 1830hours to Takwa-bay Jetty only to come back to see her room completely raised down by fire.
“That she left her children under the care of one Suliat but she (Suliat) locked the children in the room and left to unknown destination.
“The children who burnt beyond recognition include, Folake Ogundiya, 13 years old, Abigail Ogundiya, 8 years old, Daniel Bakare, 6 years old, Chidima Achomye, Nnamdi Achomye, 2 years old and Khadijat, 1 year old.
