Operation Crush arrest 25 cultists at Ijora, Mushin, Bariga, recover firearms

…As two armed robbery suspects land in Police net in Mushin

Operatives of Operation Crush from the Anti-cultism Unit of the Lagos State Police command at about 4pm on Saturday arrested one Olaitan Rilwan, 20 years old, with an automatic pistol concealed in his bag, at Ijora round about.

The suspect according to a statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Bala Elkana, confessed to be a member of Aiye Confraternity.

In a follow up operations at Bariga, one Mustapha Oseni, 23 years old and 22 others were arrested.

According to the statement, at about 5pm same day, operatives of the Anti-cultism Unit arrested one Olaitan Rilwan, 20 years old along Gaskiya road, Mushin.

It added that one locally made pistol with eight rounds of live cartridges was recovered from him.

“Investigation is ongoing and suspects will be charged to court at the conclusion of the investigation”, the statement added.

In another development, the Anti-crime Patrol team of the Mushin Police Station led by Inspector Atipi Agasa while on patrol along Olorunsogo bus stop Mushin, at about 7.30am last Thursday intercepted one Omisogun Mathew, 25 years old and Yetunde Lawson, 28 years, on a motorcycle.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Police command, DSP Bala Elkana who confirmed the arrest to newsmen said that the suspects, on sighting the police team, attempted to escape but were given a hot chase.

He said, “One locally made double barrel pistol with two life cartridges was recovered from them. The suspects belong to a five-man armed robbery syndicate operating in Mushin, Ikotun and Igando areas of Lagos state.

“The suspects were transferred to SARS for discreet investigation and will be charged to court.”
