…Recover 150 handsets
The Anambra State Police command has arrested three suspects who specialized in armed robbery and carjacking in Anambra and Delta States.
Confirming the arrest, the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, SP Haruna Mohammed said that the arrest was made on the 26th August, 2019 following intelligence report by the operatives of Operation Puff-Adder in conjunction with Police detectives attached to Aguata Division of the command.
Mohammed who gave the names of the arrested suspects Anyingor Arinze of Othuke, Asaba Delta State, Chinedu Nweke of Mbekwe Estate, Ogidi in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State and Ebuka Christian Eziamaka of Ire village, Obosi in Idemili North Local Government Area added that the suspects were part of the gang allegedly involved in series of Armed robbery/Carjacking in Anambra and Asaba axis including the snatching of one Toyota Corolla 2004 and Lexus 300 cars on the 21st July, 2019 in Aguata.
The Anambra Police spokesman disclosed that exhibits recovered in their possession includes one Gionee handset belonging to one of the victims whose vehicle was snatched.
“Other exhibits recovered are 12 Itel phones of different models, 26 Infinix phones of different models, 32 Tecno phones of different models, 16 Samsung phones of different models, 3 Gionee phones of different models and 60 other smaller phones of different make and models, all reasonably suspected to have been snatched from different Victims.
“Case is under investigation after which suspects would be charged to court for prosecution.
“Meanwhile, the command enjoins members of the public whose handsets were either snatched or stolen through similar modus to report at the Special Anti-robbery Squad, Akwuzu in order to claim their handsets and also give further evidence to aid Police investigation please”, Mohammed said.
