The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) has dismissed a video trending online of about 10 Nigerians in Indian prison in the district of Kolkata Nteji, India for overstaying their visas as an old video.

The Chairman/CEO of NIDCOM, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa who stated this in a statement by Gabriel Odu of the Media Unit, NIDCOM, Abuja disclosed that the culprits as seen in the trending video had since been deported to Nigeria.

Dabiri-Erewa observed that a call put to Nigeria’s Deputy Head of Mission in India confirmed that all those who over stayed their visas had returned saying “of note is Daniel Babatunde Akimbore who is speaking in the video, was the last person who returned to Nigeria on Wednesday, July 17th  2019 as his flight schedule indicates below.”

She therefore urged all those concerned and the general public to disregard the video.

“I thank you all most sincerely for your interest in the wellbeing of Nigerian nationals in the diaspora”, Dabiri-Erewa stated.

She reiterated her call to Nigerians to be wary of their travels and countries to go to if need be urging them to be good Ambassador of the country in their countries of residence.
