Sugarcane seller arrested over murder of colleague in Anambra

The Anambra State Police command has arrested a 20 year old man, Jubrin Mohammed from Jigawa State for allegedly stabbing and killing 25 year old Hamisu Ibrahim, also a sugarcane seller from the same state during a fight along Enugu-Onitsha expressway, Onitsha.

Confirming the arrest, the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, SP Haruna Mohammed disclosed that the scene of crime was visited by Police detectives attached to Awada Division on receipt of a report of the incident at about 10.00am yesterday where the suspect was arrested.

Mohammed further revealed that the victim was taken to the hospital where he was confirmed dead by a medical doctor while relatives of the deceased declined autopsy on religious ground.

He said, “However, photograph was taken and corpse released to relatives as requested for burial according to Islamic rites.

“Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP John B. Abang has ordered for the transfer of the case to the State CID for discreet investigation after which suspect would be charged to court for prosecution.”
