Two kids rescued from child stealing syndicate in Anambra stolen from Gombe – Police

… 115 suspects arrested for various offences

Investigation has shown that the two kids rescued from three female suspects recently by the Anambra State Police command were stolen from Gombe State.

It will be recalled that on 22 October, 2019 at about 10:45am, following intelligence report Police detectives attached to Anambra State command arrested three female suspects at Nkpor market/Tarzan junction in Idemili North Local Government Area of the State.

According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, SP Haruna Mohammed in Awka on Wednesday, preliminary investigation revealed that the children were stolen from Gombe by one Blessing Musa on 20 October, 2019 and brought to her accomplices in Anambra State.

The statement noted that “following the public announcement by the command on the 27/10/2019, parents of the two kids from Gombe State came to Awka and identified their children.

“They also revealed their names as Walid Yusuf aged 3 years and Mustapha Abdulaziz aged 2 years respectively.

“Meanwhile, the children have since been reunited with their parents and suspects were handed over to Gombe State Police command for further investigation and prosecution.

It also added that the command in collaboration with other sister agencies in the state had carried out series of raids at Upper Iweka, Owerri/Aba road and other blackspots in Onitsha leading to the arrest of 115 suspects out of which 90 were arrested for various offences such as pick pocketing, handsets snatching and being in possession of weeds suspected to be cannabis sativa while 25 others were arrested for illegal revenue collections.

“Suspects will be profiled and charge to court if found wanting while those found innocent would be released unconditionally.

“Finally, the Commissioner of Police, CP John B.Abang,fdc urges parents  and guardians to monitor their children and caution them against following strangers. The CP further enjoins the public to report any suspicious persons to the nearest Police station or call Police emergency number 07039194332 for prompt action”, it stated.
