Police arrest four suspects for armed robbery, abduction and rape in Anambra

The Anambra State Police command has arrested four suspects namely; Collins Okpala, 25, Nwachukwu Chimuanya, 20, Kenechukwu Anyasi, 23 and Pascal Ogbuagu, 22, for armed robbery, abduction and rape.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the command, SP Haruna Mohammed who disclosed this in a statement in Awka on Wednesday stated that the arrest was effected in the early hours of today by Police operatives attached to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) of the command in conjunction with the recently launched operations Kpochakpu by Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State at Ozubulu in Ekwusigo Council Area of the state.

Mohammed disclosed that the suspects had on the 14th February, 2019 abducted a girl of about 21 years old (name withheld), robbed her of her belongings and equally gang raped her severally.

He further revealed that the suspects made a pornographic video clip of the rape incident and used the video to blackmail the victim to the tune of one million naira (N1, 000,000).

“Consequently, suspects have confessed to the crime while the said video clip was also recovered from their phones and registered as exhibit. They will soon be charged to court for prosecution as soon as investigation is concluded.

“It is pertinent to reiterate that the command under the watch of CP John B. Abang, fdc will continue to provide safe and secure environment for all the citizenry before, during and after the Christmas and new year celebrations”, he assured.
