CRFFN insists on strict adherence to regulations

… Sets up Freight Forwarders Investigation Panel, one other

The Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN) has warned that henceforth, all its regulations must be strictly adhered to.

The Chairman, Governing Council of CRFFN, Alhaji Abubakar Tsanni who gave the warning while addressing newsmen shortly after the 24th meeting of Governing Council at Abuja on Wednesday recalled that the 3rd Governing Council of the CRFFN was inaugurated on 1st November, 2018 adding that both the Freight Forwarders Investigation Panel and the Freight Forwarders Disciplinary Tribunal were in now in place and fully functional.

Tsanni reminded all freight forwarders, association of freight forwarders, professional bodies/institutions and training institutions of the provisions on (1) CRFFN Act (Registration of Freight Forwarders) Regulations 2010; (2) CRFFN Act (Annual Subscription and other fees) Regulations 2010 as amended; (3) CRFFN Act (Accreditation of Associations of Freight Forwarders) Regulations 2010 and (4) CRFFN Act (Professional Misconduct and Discipline) Regulations 2010.

He said, “I wish to specifically draw your attentions to Section 19 and 20 of the CRFFN Act (Professional Misconduct and Discipline) Regulations 2010 which forbids any aggrieved freight forwarder, association of freight forwarders, professional bodies/institutions and training institutions not to take their complaint against each other and/or the CRFFN to the public and press without exhausting the statutory channels provided by CRFFN in resolving disputes have recourse to court action.

“The penalties are clearly spelt out in Section 20 which are outright expulsion and the name struck out from the register of CRFFN. All complaints should be addressed to: The Chairman, Freight Forwarders Disciplinary Tribunal at the CRFFN Headquarters and offices nationwide.”

He however renewed his call for freight forwarders ‘cooperation and support so as to bring sanity to the freight forwarding profession and industry.
