General Manager, Bronze FM Station, Benin City, Edo State, Mrs. Abimbola Oyetunde has been appointed, Chairman for the Local Organising Committee of an international summit/training programme by migration journalists.
The summit is being organised by Journalists International Forum for Migration (JIFORM), a non-profit foundation championing advocacy against irregular migration and human trafficking with members across the continents.
A statement issued from the Headquarters of JIFORM in Lagos by its President, Ajibola Abayomi stated that: “The 3-day event is scheduled to take inputs from the stakeholders on first day while the two other days would serve as training for journalists will take place in Benin City from March 25-27, 2020 themed Curbing Irregular Migration: The Role of Media And Change Agents
Oyetunde, the Vice President (West Africa), JIFORM, was the former Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Lagos State Council and current Special Adviser to the NUJ President is to work with other senior journalists in the nation to actualize the project.
Other members of the committee based in Edo State include Mrs. Bisi Akpaida, the Manager in charge of Daar Communications Plc (African Independent Television and Raypower FM), Edo State; Ken Eromobor of Bronze FM, Shola Shittu and Isaac Olamikan.
“We are counting on the experience of the distinguished journalists we have chosen to help us pilot the workshop in our continued quest to add value to humanity through volunteered service. Those chosen have over time proved that they were willing to work for the good of the society without compromising their integrity”, JIFORM president added.
