Following the threats posed by the Coronavirus disease otherwise known as covid-19 pandemic, the Ogun 1 command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has announced the suspension of its earlier planned sensitization seminar and rally on dangers of smuggling scheduled to begin today and end tomorrow at Idiroko, Ipokia Local Government of Ogun State.

The Customs Public Relations Officer of the command, Abdullahi Maiwada who disclosed the suspension in a statement at Idiroko on Monday said the decision was a proactive move to manage the exponential increase of the pandemic, more so now that the number of cases in Nigeria seemed to be steadily increasing.

He said, “As we remain optimistic on the containment of the scourge, the command will continue to monitor developments with a view to fixing new dates for the program as soon as possible.

“We hereby regret any inconvenience this decision might cause, as our paramount concern is to always be responsible and responsive. We shall maintain an effective collaboration with other relevant Federal Government Agencies and the Ogun State Government towards our collective safety and well-being.”
