In view of various interventions of the Federal Government of Nigeria to contain the spread of Coronavirus (COVID 19) in the nation, the Journalists International Forum For Migration, JIFORM, has shifted its proposed anti-human trafficking summit.

A statement signed in Osogbo by JIFORM President, Ajibola Abayomi stated thus:

“We wish to announce the immediate postponement of the JIFORM Anti-human Trafficking Summit earlier slated for March 24, 2020, at the Villanova Polytechinc, Imesi- Ile till further notice.

“Until about 24 hours ago, there was no ban on public gatherings by the government however with the position of Lagos State government, thus the body language of other authorities is suggesting that a ban across public activities is a likely precaution step days ahead.

“JIFORM as a responsible foundation wishes to abide by government directive aimed at curbing further spread of the ravaging COVID 19.”

Ajibola said the decision was taken in Osogbo after reviewing actions being taken to redeem the global pandemic coupled with the announcement of eight fresh cases of Coronavirus by the Federal Ministry of Health.

He said despite the resources that had been committed to the project so far, “safety of human lives is of greater concern to us. A new date shall be announced”.
