COVID 19: CGI Babandede, others’ recovery excites JIFORM

The Journalists International Forum for Migration (JIFORM) has received with excitement the news of the recovery of the Comptroller General of Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Muhammad Babandede MFR and other Nigerians from the Covid-19.

Responding to media inquiry in Lagos, Nigeria, JIFORM President, Ajibola Abayomi said, “the news is a cheering and welcome development. We are glad that the Comptroller and other affected Nigerians are recovering to the admiration of all. This is an indication that few weeks from now, Nigeria will be on the verge of victory over the coronavirus.

“Although, it is too early to celebrate, we want the nation to continue with steps being taken to subdue the virus.  The citizens must be patient while it is expedient for the government to mitigate the effect of hunger and several inconveniences.”

The Comptroller tested negative twice after self-isolation according to a statement signed by the National Public Relations Officers of the NIS, Deputy Comptroller, Sunday James.

The release  stated that the “testing came with great relieve and thanks to God, the Comptroller General in an appreciation message to all well-wishers, friends of the service, good spirited individuals and groups, officers and Men of the Nigeria Immigration Service, most importantly the Government, Honorable Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, Permanent Secretary Ministry of Interior, Barr. Georgina Ekeoma Ehuriah MON, members of the International Community who stood by the service during this trying times.”

James added that, Babandede in an overwhelming appreciation took cognizance of the prayers and supplication of everyone for him. He prayed for the recovery of others.

“While praying for God’s intervention for the world and Nigeria in this battle against Covid-19, he enjoins Nigerians to keep faith alive and adhere strictly to the medical and health care advises, including social and physical distancing, as well as safe healthy practices of washing of hands with soap, use of sanitizers, wearing of face mask, and every professional advice given by the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) for the good and well-being of all”, James added.
