As Christians celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ at Easter, the Journalists International Forum for Migration (JIFORM) has called for prayers against the ravaging Covid-19 pandemic.
While urging Christians to stay safe at this pandemic moment, the foundation leading advocacy against irregular migration and human trafficking encouraged nations to be prayerful stating that the present situation was not beyond God.
JIFORM President and Executive Director, Ajibola Abayomi in statement said: “We greet Christians as they mark resurrection of our lord Jesus Christ. This calls for sober reflection on the life and times of Christ. The saviour while on earth was law abiding and lived exemplary spiritual life that reunited mankind with God through discipline and by preaching the scripture.
“Prayer is very key to overcoming all challenges. While it is imperative to obey social distancing order as part of strategies to slow down Covid-19, Christians are enjoined to seek the face of God for his intervention in all nations to stop the deadly disease.
“Government should also take the welfare of citizens serious while locking down nations. Provision should be made for everyone in need. Christians and other religious leaders must unite in prayer and obey all the laid down rules to end the pandemic. May his sacrifice on the cross not be in vain in our lives”, Ajibola prayed.
