The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Lagos State command on Wednesday held lecture series on safety and health consciousness for efficient service delivery and praised the efforts of the state government to contain the spread of the diseases in the state.
The Comptroller of Lagos State Command of the NIS, Braimah Doris praised the Lagos State Government on various measures being put in place to raise awareness and Medicare for the victims of Coronavirus so far.
The purpose of the event was to bring to the consciousness of the NIS officials on the need to maintain safe and healthy environment in order to continue to deliver effective service to the public as an essential service delivery agency.
According to the National Public Relations Officer of the NIS, DCI Sunday James, the Comptroller General of the NIS, Muhammad Babandede appreciated the officers and men of the Lagos Command for taking time to attend the workshop in an atmosphere that is National Center for Disease Control (NCDC) standard compliant.
CIS Doris Braimah observed that there was relationship between healthy and safe lifestyle.
She urged the NIS officers to be wary of the cosmopolitan nature of the state by not risking an unsafe and unhealthy life to deliver on the mandate of the service in view of the Covid-19 scourge.
Braimah appreciated the Lagos State Government for the early steps taken to curtail the spread of Covid-19.
She also lauded health officials that participated as resource persons from NCDC and the African Centre for Disease Control; Dr. Adedoyin Fetuga, Lagos State Health Commission, Dr. James Okediran (NCDC) and Dr. Olayinka Ilesanmi of the African Centre for Disease Control who presented topical papers on Safety and Health Consciousness in the midst of Covid-19.
Heads of the various units took their turn to also brief the Comptroller of their schedules, challenges and way forward in an effort to accelerate the services rendered to the public that was slowed down by the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.
