Three persons were yesterday rescued alive when the boat they were travelling in capsized at Lekki shoreline, Ladipo Latinwo Close, Lekki Phase 2 as a result of water turbulence.

A statement released on Tuesday by the General Manager, Lagos State Waterways Authority, Mr. Damilola Emmanuel, disclosed that “at about 4.30pm on the 23rd of June, 2020, a local boat with four (4) adult males on a boating expedition capsized  due to water turbulence.

“The quick collaborative effort of responders in the area were able to rescue 3 alive while one person is still unaccounted for i.e. missing

“The Hon. Comm. MPPUD, GM LASWA, GM LSMTL and GM LASBCA were on ground alongside LRT responders at the incident scene. The rescued victims were provided with medical care and released.”

The statement further informed that rescue effort was still ongoing for the missing person as it was discovered that all occupants on board did not have lifejackets on.

“Marine Police will carry out further investigation while LASEMA and LASWA will continue the search for the missing person”, it further said.
