The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has commenced the 2020 SERVICOM Week to sensitize the general public and personnel of the Service on compliance procedures and conducts in a three (3) day programme.
SERVICOM, an acronym for Service Compact with all Nigerians, was established in 2004 as the outcome of a three-day special Presidential Retreat on Service Delivery with the President, Ministers, Special Advisers, Presidential Aides and Chief Executives of major Extra-Ministerial Departments and Parastatals.
A statement signed on Monday in Abuja by the Service Public Relations Officer, Mr. Sunday James noted that the Comptroller General of Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Muhammad Babandede MFR approved of the SERVICOM week to educate, sensitise and inform the public and officers on how to address issues that centre on services rendered by NIS officially through the SERVICOM Unit, an arm saddled with the responsibility to interface with the public for complaints and ensuring compliance with service delivery and standard.
The statement observed that the event involves visitation to the NIS service windows within the NIS Headquarters, the FCT command of the Service, Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, to be rounded up with Award presentation to deserving individuals and offices as the case may be.
It pointed out that as a responsive and responsible agency that prioritize the demands of the public on the Service, the NIS through the SERVICOM Unit operates a Contact Centre that receives all complaints forwarded by phone calls, in person or other means of communication on service delivery, abuse, lack of satisfaction by NIS clients and customers with the aim to give it quick attention.
“The SERVICOM Unit has delivered on its mandate by ensuring proper monitoring, report of progress and performance of all the service windows across the Directorate, Zones, Commands of the NIS under SERVICOM obligations through Compliance Evaluations using the SERVICOM Index.
“The SERVICOM Index is a set of business – relevant Performance Indicators (KPIs) that provides a standardized method for measuring and comparing performance against service standards defined by MDAs”, the statement said.
