Governor Willie Obiano has approved the suspension of the traditional ruler of Ukwulu in Dunukofia Local Government Area of Anambra State, Chief Peter Uyanwa for a period of one year with effect from July 24, 2020 in the first instance.

The State’s Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr. C. Don Adinuba who disclosed this in a statement in Awka on Monday said that the suspension followed a series of petitions against the traditional ruler from many people in Ukwulu and elsewhere who wanted to forestall an impending huge crisis in the community.

Adinuba further disclosed that his (Peter Uyanwa) Certificate of Recognition as Igwe was also withdrawn with immediate effect.

“Consequently, Chief Uyanwa can no longer function as Chairman of the Traditional Rulers Council, Anambra Central Zone.

“These actions have been taken in the public interest.

“The appropriate security agencies have been notified”, he concluded.
