The Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 13 Ukpo, Anambra State, AIG Danmallam Mohammed has directed the Commissioner of Police Anambra State Police command, CP John Abang to tighten the security of Anambrarians following a viral video purporting an exodus of elements believed to be Fulani insurgents into Agulu and Adazi areas of the State in a barrage of motorcycles.

The Zonal Public Relations Officer of the Zone, DSP Nkeiruka Nwode who disclosed this in a statement in Ukpo on Tuesday said that the Zone was not unaware of the video which has now gone viral on the social media.

Nwode added that the content of the video claimed that the migration was intended to wreak mayhem on some communities in the state and called on the people to be vigilant and resist any attempt at heisting their localities.

According to her, “The video went on to allege that there was an assemblage of these suspicious characters at the Hausa Quarters in Awka wherefrom their journey took off.

“Germane as it could seem to be, the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Danmallam Mohammed warns that while raising alarms on security, caution should be adopted so as not to incite the public against law and order and cause disaffection, tension and false security impression on the people and the land.”

She further informed that the AIG had also directed the State Commissioner of Police to wade into the video and examine the contents so shared and get back to the Zone for clarification.

“We employ you to be calm and go about your legal duties without fear of harassment”, she added.
