Man, 47, nabbed for allegedly killing his two children, aged mother

…Three others injured, hospitalized   

Police operatives attached to Nnewi Division of the Anambra State Police command at about 11.55pm on Thursday, arrested one Emeka Ezimadu, 47, of Okpuneze Uruagu in Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State.

Confirming the arrest in a statement in Awka on Friday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Haruna Mohammed stated that the suspect allegedly ran amok in a circumstances yet to be ascertained, attacked and killed two of his biological children namely; Ifechukwu Ezimadu, aged 9 years, Mmeso Ezimadu, aged 2 years and his own mother, one Agnes Ezimadu, aged 85 years of same address with a cutlass while they were sleeping.

Mohammed further said that the suspect equally used same offensive weapon and injured his three other children namely; Nonso Ezimadu, aged 12 years, Chinaemerem Ezimadu, aged 11 years and Ngozi Ezimadu, aged 8 years of same address.

He added that police detectives visited the scene and rushed victims to the Akwudo hospital for medical attention where the two children and the aged mother were certified dead by a medical doctor while the three other children were receiving treatment.

“Corpses deposited at Akwudo hospital morgue for autopsy and case transferred to State CID Awka for discreet investigation, please”, he said.
