The Journalists International Forum for Migration (JIFORM), on Tuesday condoled with the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerians In Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa over the death of her mother, Alhaja Sadiat Abeke Erogbogbo, aged 90.

President of JIFORM, Ajibola Abayomi, in a condolence message he personally signed and addressed to the NiDCOM boss described the death of the late teacher and business woman as celebration of life.

“Having succeeded your mother as one of the first class brains contributing to the transformation of Nigeria is enough consolation that indeed Alhaja Erogbogbo’s passing was a celebration of an icon that left her footprint on the sand of time.

“The over 300 journalists under the umbrella of JIFORM across the globe focusing on migration matters identify with you and your other siblings at this mourning period and we pray that the Almighty Allah, the only real comforter, shall give you all the fortitude to bear the loss. May her soul rest in Al-janah Firdaus. Farahun Warayanu Waijanati Naheem”, Ajibola prayed.

In related development, the JIFORM President also described the death of former minister of information, Prince Tony Momoh as a great loss to Nigeria especially the media industry.

The late journalist, lawyer and politician who served as minster between 1986 and 1990 under the regime of General Ibrahim Bababgida died at the age of 81 according to the family sources.

“This great mentor, contented politician and a believer in just society was a father and friend to many of us. We shall miss his unbiased positions on national and international issues. A great career he built from 1962 at foremost Daily Times Newspaper where he later rose to the position of editor. What a talent we have lost.

“JIFORM prays for the repose of the soul of the late prince. Truly, when beggars die, there are no comets seen, the heavens themselves blaze forth the death of princes like Momoh. Indeed an Iroko, a giant tree has fallen. Adieu, a great mentor of our time,” he said.
