It was a moment of well wishes, encomium and congratulations galore from freight forwarding practitioners and business associates across the nation as the Managing Director of Talod Ocean Airfreight Limited, Aare Hakeem Olanrewaju received a rare Certificate of Merit conferred on his company, Talod Ocean Airfreight Limited by Mr. Kunio Mikuriya, the Secretary General of the World Customs Organization (WCO).
The World Customs Organization (WCO) Certificate of Merit awards is an international recognition for private organizations endorsed by the national customs having obtain a clean bill of professional practices by the International Federation of Freight Forwarding Associations (FIATA) for outstanding trade compliance, qualitative logistics services and participation in the global trade initiative programs which in the local parlance is referred to as compliant declarant/trader.
The WCO Certificate of Merit is one International award all duly established professional freight forwarding firms or practitioners aspires and looks forward to earn in the course of its or his professional career.
Recall that each year, during the International Customs Day celebration, national customs are encouraged to nominate a national organization who meets the stipulated criteria to represent Nigeria private sector in this category.
The Certificate of Merit is in recognition for “Rendering Exceptional Services to the International Customs Communities.”
The award was presented by the Comptroller General of Customs, Col. Hameed Ali (rtd.) at the just concluded International Customs Day Celebration, held in Abuja.
Aare Hakeem Olanrewaju who is a former Chairman of the Governing Council of the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN), in his appreciation remarks, thanked the WCO and the Nigeria Customs Service for considering his company worthy of the merit award.
He equally thanked and commended his company’s management team and thereafter dedicated the award to the young freight forwarders who were aspiring for professionalism and international best practices in all strata of the maritime industry while encouraging them not to relent.
Meanwhile, the Congregation of Registered Freight Forwarding Practitioners of Nigeria (CREFFPON) has congratulated the pioneer Vice Chairman of the Governing Council of the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN), Aare Hakeem Olanrewaju over the Certificate of Merit conferred on his company Talod Ocean Airfreight, by Mr. Kunio Mikuriya, the Secretary General of the World Customs Organization.
In a congratulatory message to Olanrewaju which was made available to our correspondent, the group stated, “Mr. Chairman, your award is a signal that there is still hope for the Nigerian freight forwarding profession.
