Customs: FOU Zone B intercepts goods worth over N66 million in two weeks

In continuation of the fight against smuggling, the Federal Operation Unit, Zone B Kaduna, has intercepted and arrested goods worth N66,133,892.00 in various locations within the zone.

In a briefing with pressmen in Kaduna yesterday, the Customs Area Controller of the Unit, Comptroller Al-Bashir Hamisu presented the intercepted goods to the public.

The Comptroller called on the public to endeavor to always volunteer useful information on smuggling activities to the Unit for the betterment of the nation.

Notable among the seizures was the arrest of 180 pieces of assorted Jack knives in the Tsafe Area of Zamfara state, 13 vehicles and 592 bags of foreign parboiled rice.

The  51  seizures which were made between February 16, 2021 to March 1, 2021 at various locations of the zone also included 227 kegs of vegetable oil, 55 gallons of 25kg PMS,  49 gallons of 25kg AGO, 38 bales and 67 sacks of secondhand clothing.

There are however more seizures domicile at various locations within the zone that could not be transferred to FOU Zone B headquarters due to distance and logistics.

The Federal Operations Unit Zone B has a jurisdiction covering 10 states of the federation that include all the 7 north western state, some parts of North central states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja.
