Olasupo Babatunde Ajani assumes duty as AIG Zone 11, Oshogbo

Olasupo Babatunde Ajani, an Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) has assumed duty as AIG Zone 11, Oshogbo. The Zone comprises Oyo and Osun State Police commands.

Ajani resumed effectively on Wednesday 21st April, 2021.

A statement signed by SP Ayeni Benjamin, Zonal Police Public Relations Officer and made available to the National Association of Online Security Reporters (NAOSRE) stated that Ajani is a graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife where he studied Education and obtained Bachelor of Art, Education with Second Class Upper Division in 1982. He also obtained Masters in Public Administration in 1998 from the University of Ilorin, Kwara State.

The statement added that he was enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force as cadet ASP on the 15th of March, 1988 and served in different parts of the country which includes Kwara, Osun, Abia, Kano, Lagos States and Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

According to the statement, “Ajani was drafted to restore peace during the Ife-Modakeke crises. His excellent performance and track record rewarded him with Osun State Merit Award on Security in 2005. He thereafter went on a Foreign Mission to Kosovo, in Eastern Europe for a period of two years. On completion of that assignment, he returned to Nigeria as Second in Command, SCID Osun State command.

“He also served at Nigeria Police College, Ikeja as Officer Commanding, Basic Training where he trained over 5,000 Recruits apart from over 1,000 Customs Officers as well as another 1,000 Police Cadet Officers, who are now serving all over the country in various capacities.

“In 2015, there was once again a call for action when the IPOB started its agitation for secession in Eastern Nigeria, this gallant Police Officer was posted to Zone 9, Umuahia as the DC Operations to take charge of the whole of the South East of Nigeria. He was there until 2017, when he was promoted to Commissioner of Police and posted to the FCT Abuja as CP in charge of Police Air Wing.

“In December 2018, he served briefly as CP Administration DLS but was again posted as Commandant Police College, Ikeja on 9th January 2019 until he was promoted AIG and posted as AIG Investments, Force Headquarters Abuja, where he was until his recent posting as AIG Zone 11 Command, Osogbo.

“Other appointments held by Ajani include Assistant Commissioner of Police Special Fraud Unit, Milverton Road, Ikoyi, Lagos and seconded to the FMIU, where he collaborated with NDIC and CBN to investigate failed bank matters.

“Ajani attended many national, international and professional courses which includes: Senior Command Course, Police Staff College, Jos; Senior Management Course, Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON), Badagry and Conflict Resolution and Management Course at Institute of Conflict Resolution, Abuja.

“He is a member of Board of Directors, Police Investments Company Limited and his hobbies include football and travelling.

“The AIG is happily married and the marriage is blessed with many lovely children and grandchildren,” SP Ayeni Benjamin disclosed.
