In the spirit of the 2021 Eid-el-Fitr celebrations, the Southern Nigeria Governors Forum and President, National Association of Online Security Reporters (NAOSRE), Mr. Femi Oyewale have unanimously called on government for renewed plans to extricate Nigeria from the grips of insecurity, poverty and administrative somersaults.

Arising from its meeting in Asaba on Tuesday, the body of Southern governors, in a 12-point communiqué, read by the forum’s Chairman and Governor of Ondo State, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, told President Buhari  to convoke a national dialogue to address the wide spread agitations in the country which is fuelling insecurity.

The governors affirmed that Southern Nigeria remains committed to the unity of Nigeria on the basis of justice, fairness, equity, oneness and peaceful co-existence.

They however emphasized that unity is a surest avenue to national growth and prosperity adding that insecurity and banditry are leading threats to food supply which must be checked.

Oyewale, in his 2021 Eid-el-Fitr message titled, ‘Ramadan Fast and Everlasting love,’ called on Nigerians to see the end of Ramadan  fasting  as the beginning of stronger bond for a united Nigeria.

He stressed that Nigerians should cultivate the intuition of living in accordance with the Ramadan prayers, which presupposes national loyalty and commitment to the letters and spirits of the constitution adding that such disposition is the needed elixir for the country to emerge as the biggest global economy.

“Whether Muslim or Christian, we must continue to see ourselves as brothers and sisters for a better Nigeria.

“We must see the end of Ramadan fasting as the beginning of stronger ties amongst tribes and clans in Nigeria. We have so much to gain as a united Nigeria than as a divided Nigeria,” he advised.

Oyewale reiterated the commitment of NAOSRE to promote harmony and confidence between operatives and citizens saying “NAOSRE’s commitment to a peaceful Nigeria is patriotic and genuine. We will continue to present the situation as objectively as it is for a better and safer Nigeria.”

He however called on President Muhammadu Buhari to oxygenate the security agencies through proper funding and trainings in line with global best practices.
