The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Hakeem Odumosu, has applauded officers and men of the Lagos State Police command for their efforts and strategies put in place towards peaceful and credible conduct of Local Government Councils and Local Council Development Authorities elections in the state last weekend.
According to CSP Muyiwa Adejobi, the Command’s spokesman, Odumosu made the commendation during the Commissioner’s lecture with Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, Heads of Departments and Tactical Commanders, held at POWA Hall, Oduduwa Ikeja-Lagos where the conduct of the election was appraised.
The Police boss was particular about the proactive measures put in place by the command and strategic deployment of both human and material resources of the command that have contributed to the huge success recorded during and after the elections on Saturday 24th July, 2021.
While directing the Command’s Special Investigation Team on Electoral Offences to speed up its investigations into some of the cases reported, CP Hakeem Odumosu ordered the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Yaba-Lagos, DCP Adegoke Fayoade to prosecute those who were arrested and found culpable for electoral offences during the 24th July, 2021 Local Government Councils elections in Lagos State.
The Commissioner of Police also appreciated the calmness, maturity and act of patriotism displayed by the residents of Lagos State, especially the electoral officials, electorates and political actors during the conduct of the elections on Saturday.
He noted that the command will always discharge its duties in accordance with the extant laws and modern policing agenda of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba.
In addition, the police boss ordered officers and men and tactical Commanders within the command not to relent on their oars in making sure that Lagos State is adequately policed.
