ISTDAL women elect Carole Chika Mmonu as President

The Imo State Towns Development Association Lagos (ISTDAL) has elected Hon. (Lolo) Carole Chika Mmonu as President of the women wing of the association to take charge of the 7th Assembly billed to take off in January 2022.

Hon. (Lolo) Carole Chika Mmonu emerged the President of the women’s wing in a landslide victory in the keenly contested election.

The election which was conducted by a 3-Man Electoral Committee was chaired by Hon. Kingsley Iwuanyanwu and observed by the Special Assistant to the Imo State Liaison Officer, Sir Tony Ezeji and many other men representatives of the association was adjudged the best and most free and fair in the history of ISTDAL election which took place on the 26th of September, 2021 at the Imo State Liaison Office, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Other officers elected include; Hon. (Lady) Celine Ogu, 1st Vice President and Hon. Eziada Ego Ijiaku was returned unopposed to become 2nd Vice president. The post of the General Secretary went to Hon. (Mrs.) Nkechi Thompson, while the Public Relations Position went to Hon. (Mrs.) Anne Ejuka; the Financial Secretary position was won by Hon. (Lolo) Vivian Igwe, while Hon. (Mrs.) Clementina Chukwu was returned unopposed as the Treasurer.

The post of Provost and Welfare Officer were won by Hon. (Lolo) Anthonia Mmadike and Hon. (Mrs) Flora Mbata respectively.

Also elected were; Hon. Oluchi Muoneke as the Assistant General Secretary; Hon. Ruth Nkwocha, Assistant Financial Secretary; Hon. Maria Nwosu, Assistant Welfare Officer and Hon. Cynthia Aguzie, Assistant Public Relations Officer.

Speaking after the election, the President General, Hon. (Chief) Chris Ekeocha appealed for calm and enjoined to women to cooperate with the new elected officers in their quest to fulfill their campaign promises and move ISTDAL to a higher and enviable height.

ISTDAL is a Socio cultural, non-partisan association and the umbrella body of all registered Imo state town unions in Lagos aimed at promoting and fostering unity, peace and progress between the member towns.
