The Councillor representing Oko Ward 2 in Orumba North Local Government Area, Hon. Chijioke Agodi has congratulated the Anambra State Governor-elect, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo on his victory at the poll in last Saturday’s governorship election in the state.
Soludo polled a total of one hundred and twelve thousand, two hundred and twenty-nine (112,229) votes to emerge the winner in the election which was announced by Prof. Florence Banku Obi, Vice Chancellor, University of Calabar who served as the Retuning Officer in the election.
Speaking in a statement issued in Oko on Thursday and made available to our correspondent, Hon. Agodi commended Prof. Soludo for his humility and magnanimity in victory which was evidenced in his extending a hand of fellowship to all including other candidates in the election.
He said that Soludo, no doubt, has all that was required to provide leadership to Ndi Anambra and contribute to the development of the South East and the entire nation.
He, however, commended the Member representing Orumba North State Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Emeka Aforka for leading the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Orumba North to victory in the just concluded Governorship election.
Hon. Agodi who is also the Supervisor for Health in Orumba North Local Government Area described Aforka as a go-getter who would not allow himself to be distracted when he set out to achieve a goal.
He pointed out that his (Aforka) love for APGA dated back to 2010 when he put his life on the line to ensure that the Party’s electoral victory in his Ward in Ndiowu was not shortchanged which later on stood him out as a stakeholder with a lot of commitment to the party.
He said, “Since Nwachinemelu (Aforka) took over the mantle of leadership as the leader of APGA in Orumba North, it has been success story for the party in the Local Government as APGA has never loose any election in the Local Government, a feat which is unparalleled in the entire state.
“The Deputy Majority leader in the Anambra State House of Assembly has provided leadership for the party. His organizational ability and his sense of coordination is second to none. All I have to tell him is not to relent as I am sure that the party is taking note of all these achievements and I believe that in due course, the party would abundantly reward him.”
Agodi who is a former Vice Chairman of APGA in Oko Ward 2 equally eulogized the Transition Chairman of Orumba North Local Government Area, Hon. Mrs. Ify Obinabo (Ada Ife) for bracing all odds and leading from the front to deliver the Local Government to APGA describing her as an Amazon.
He noted that but for her insistence on putting the records straight, political jobbers would have smuggled in fake results written in one hotel to the INEC office in the Local Government in a bid to upturn the well deserved victory earned by the party in the Local Government.
He observed that her presence was everywhere from October 4, 2021 through October 10, 2021 when the result was eventually announced thus giving every member of the party reasons to come out en masse on the election day and mobilize the people of the area to come out and vote despite security challenges.
“I salute her courage. This is a woman who when other women were warning their husbands and holding them back from going out to vote due to insecurity in the land, braced all odds and was in the field coordinating, supervising and directing throughout the election period.
“When you see her in the field, you see bravery, courage and can do spirit of Ndi Orumba. I really admired her and because that singular act which translated to victory in the Local Government, I have rededicated myself in working with her to move our Local Government to greater heights”, he said.
He, therefore, called on all members of APGA in Orumba North to rally round Hon. Emeka Aforka and Hon. Ify Obinabo to support the incoming government of Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo to deliver on his promises to Ndi Anambra as well as support the government of Chief Willie Obiano to finish strong.
“On my part, I will avail my time, money and every other resources to support the incoming government of Prof. Soludo even more than I have supported the incumbent administration because his success will translate to continued dominance of APGA in Anambra political space.
“Once again, I say a very big congratulation to our Governor-elect, Prof. Soludo and I equally congratulate our great party, APGA, Hon. Emeka Aforka and Hon. Ify Obinabo. Congratulations to us!” he concluded.
